Spell Grid Mechanic

The spell grid is a 3x3 grid of elements which determine the player's spell loadout. Each row and each column in the spell grid corresponds to different keys (slots) on the keyboard. The combination of elements in each row and column determine which spell goes in the slot. Since there are three rows and three columns, there are a total of six spell slots. By default these slots may be selected by the 1, Q, 2, 3, E and 4 keys on the keyboard. There are only 26 valid element combinations (opposing elements may not occupy the same row or column), so there will be exactly that many spells in the game.
